Hi, I’m Bryanna.
I grew up seeing and feeling things I wasn’t supposed to, in an environment that perceived my sight and feelings as attack. Chaos, dysfunction, mental illness, addiction, abuse, and gaslighting about all of it colored my early experiences. So did loneliness, depression, self harm, panic attacks, constant questioning if I was crazy, and a long string of life choices and dynamics and dis-ease to sort through.
It’s taken me… two decades of deep study and experiences in the fullllllll spectrum of the healing arts, from the most conventional therapies to the most “alternative” (ancient) modalities…
ACT I - a decade of working in prisons and mental institutions and court rooms and nonprofits and hospice care while pursuing a career in mental health law while also navigating intense chronic illness and spiritual awakening… a radical choice to walk away from everything I thought I was supposed to be-do-have to follow my heart and make my life art…
ACT II - 8 years in online business offering somatic and subconscious coaching and courses… falling in love with and getting married to my soulmate artist husband… having 3 babies in 13 months… moving in with my mother-in-law and grandma… letting my maiden’s dream business and life fall apart and fully embracing motherhood and multigenerational living… letting myself reclaim my first love, writing, in the wee hours of the morning before my babies wake… to come home to my most authentic essence and expression again.
How Does It Feel? is the beginning of ACT III.
My intention here is to completely unbrand myself in my public expression and unleash my inner author. Not author as a job description (though that is my inner child’s wildest dream come true!), author as in, authorship of my story and creative expression in the world, ownership of my voice. For me, this publication is a lifetime in the making.
My desire is that whatever comes through my heart here is of the deepest and highest service to yours. That the resonance of what I write awakens the same in you. That my art contributes to a more sensitive, creative, alive humanity. And that I get to connect with and enjoy a community of like-hearted beings (you!).
I feel this space as a group of close friends sitting around the fire, spilling our guts into the wee hours of the night. Laughing, crying, and dreaming our way into more Love. I hope you feel it this way too.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT HERE
You will find conversations about a wiiiiide variety of topics, all through the lens of sensitive, creative, intuitive, Love-led living. In reverence of the mystery, mysticism, magic, and sacredness of the everyday, extra-ordinary life.
These days I’m particularly interested in and will be writing about:
family, motherhood, multigenerational living;
energetic, emotional, sensual, creative, aesthetic, and erotic healing and awakening;
embodied business, unbranding as the brand;
and returning to the wisdom of nature, rooting and rewilding back to land.
Side tangents and further explorations are highly likely!
((For conversations about home as a healing art, soul-led and earth honoring interior design, please join me at House of Heart.))
PAID OR UNPAID?
The paid portion of this publication brings you more closely into my inner sanctum and into community of like-hearted humans.
I won’t be withholding my best work behind the paywall to incentivize you to join. Rather, when something feels too tender to broadcast to the internet at large, I will be putting it behind a paywall. For my heart. I want to express and create radically and authentically in the world and I also know from experience how important it is to reserve some expression for closer circles of aligned humans. As a Being who feels called to express preeetttyyyyy openly and publicly this lifetime, this is an ongoing discernment and evolution. No hard and fast rules of what goes where.
Behind the paywall you will also have access to a private conversation thread where you can share what’s moving in you, connect with other like-hearted readers, and get direct response from me.
If you feel called to support The Heartist behind this work, you can buy me a coffee here.
A NOTE ON HOW I USE AI
You will not find any generative AI here. All writing is my own. I believe in the creative power of the human heart and soul more than even the most intelligent pattern recognizing system.
I sometimes use AI as a sounding board, asking it to ask me questions that help me think more deeply about something I am stuck on in my writing or to challenge my thinking if I feel it isn’t fully formed and I’m not sure where to go further.
I regularly use AI in my business for basic organizational and operational tasks. My brain hates these kinds of things. (INFP, Emo RRRR Projector, Cancer Midheaven, mystical magical irrational creative woman over here!) Implementing AI into these arenas has been a gamechanger as an overstimulated, overwhelmed, ssuuuuper sensie mom who wakes up at 4am to have quiet creative space and doesn’t want any of that space being eaten up by tasky nonsense.
And. I feel deeply conflicted about using AI. I do my best to use it lightly and where it’s of highest impact to my heart and soul and family. And I’m still not sure if that’s too much, in consideration of the future.
I’m wildly concerned about the impact of this technology on the planet’s resources and on the people inhabiting it. And at the same time seeing how impactful using it where I have has been on my ability to hold so much and show up so fully where it matters in my life.
I see the beautiful potential of this technology to liberate humanity to living more fully, freely, creatively. I see the long-winding road with many, many choices to be made to get there. And I’m not confident in the current state of our political leadership’s ability to make these choices thoughtfully, intentionally, and in consideration of the whole of humanity instead of as a bottom line.
I don’t have answers. Only questions. And am, as Rilke says, continually living into the questions. Shifting my choices as my sense of what’s aligned and true shifts.
